Detailed item info
"Airplane!" is an American comedy released on DVD. The "Don't Call Me Shirley" edition is named from one of the funniest lines in the movie when Leslie Nielsen says "I am serious and don't call me Shirley." "Airplane!" was written and directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker. This comedy is a parody of a series of disaster movies with special emphasis on the film "Zero Hour!" The main stars of the show are Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty, but it also features Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stark, Peter Graves, Lloyd Bridges, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. In "Airplane!" an ex-fighter pilot has to overcome his fear of flying in order to land the plan after the pilot falls ill. Included in the plot are a number of sight gags and parody flashbacks. "Airplane!" is listed as number 10 on the American Film Institute's 100 funniest American films. The run time for the movie is 87 minutes. The widescreen version of this DVD includes deleted scenes, the theatrical trailer, and interviews.
